What do i open my game with?

when i download a game it saves as a text document, i use bitTorrent to download them and alot of the time i click on the game and a message comes up saying what i would like to open the file with and if i want to look for a program online to search for it automatically and when i click that it takes me to a page saying windows does not recognize the file, so i tried to open the file with bitTorrent and it brings it up and says something about not enough space but no matter what program i pick to open it it doesnt work
please help im clueless

even without torrenting i have alot of files on my computer that i cant open because i dont know what program to use
