What do you mean, no print driver?

Okay folks, can you help me out here? My wife's got a HP Pavillion dm3 laptop running Windows 7. It's supposed to be hooked up through a wireless router to an HP Officejet 6500 E709n. This printer shows in the control panel of the computer, but when I look at it in the device manager, it tells me that the drivers for this device are not installed. I know they are; I installed them myself. Oh, yeah, and it says "Code 28".

Can someone tell me what the problem is with this darn thing? Thanks in advance.

It may show up as usb printer but what about a wireless printer? Check the properties in printers to see if it has usb port or IP address.

Hey John, so we meet again. (I only say that because you post to a lot of my questions - as I know you do with others.) At any rate, I digress. In answer to your question, I installed this printer as a wireless printer, so it is connected through a standard TCP/IP port. It's worked before, but we haven't used the computer for a little while and when I fired it up, it showed that there wasn't a driver, so it couldn't print. By the way, I set this up with a static IP address, and I've checked both the laptop and printer and the IP address is correct. So I'm still a little baffled. Is there something I need to do in the registry or something?

The only thing I can recommend at this point is to uninstall it and reinstall the printer.

ugh... Okay. But I get tired of uninstalling and reinstalling. But thank you for your help. I think I'll try it and if it doesn't work I'll take it to the firing range and use it as a target.
