What do you do for abstract effects in image editing? I'm talking about stuff like:

I'm not sure I understand your question? What do you mean "What do you do for"?
Most image editing software comes with a graphic package with hundreds of patterns and gradients to add as a layer in an image. But they aren't usually as cool as your examples, however, if your creative, you can make some pretty cool stuff.

If you are good with Adobe, you can probably render something like those links you supplied. It's basically starting with an image, usually things with several blocked lines and such then applying filters, warps, and colors when needed.
