what irritates me about some games

Some games are just WAY to dark.Have to pretty much max gamma & brightness just to see how I want on most I played.
Yeah its cool hearing tense music &/or strange sounds,seeing practically nothing but a piece of wall & some shadows.Then not seeing the enemies till they pop in front of you.But it gets old & irritating quick.Not going to say what all games I am talking about or what setup I am running.
Just a rant & was curious if anyone else agrees.

the only games like that when its so dark you can't see your hand in front of your face are the horror games, its kinda defeating the purpose of being a horror game if you turn up the brightness so much its like a nice sunny day
 
I personally never had this issue. I enjoy games that are darker, but never have had games so dark that it was hard to see. I have noticed that as new games come out, you constantly have to adjust screen settings to that specific game. There is no general setting that will optimize accross the board for every game. Mainly because each developer is making the game with the best graphics for that game. Depending on game play type, enviroment type and many other things that determine the correct lighting and scene enviroment. Thus the reason why a person needs to adjust screen settings (in game and on TV/Monitor) to that specific game to enjoy the graphics and everything to the fullest.

But thats just me :D
 
I only ever had this problem on my xbox, on my pc it is fine.

Although somewhat in keeping with the theme of light (i think) that bloody glare on bfbc2 make me turn my brightness right down.
 
case in point, the stalker series. try traveling at night, it's freaky as shit.

i think that was intentional though. like have you ever been out late at night, and i don't mean like a club or downtown, but just out in the bushes?

it is dark. sometimes i go running or biking at the local park, and there ain't no lights on the trails. once night falls you can't see shit. i almost walked right into somebody, no kidding 0.0 !
