greetings,

in regards to processor speed, how fast is a AMD Sempron™ 3400+ processor. (1.8ghz, 2.0ghz, 2.4gh, etc etc??)..thanks again!

....thanks for the reply...what would i ned to get to get up to at least 2.4?.

It would be a stretch to get it to 2.4Ghz. You would most likely need better cooling, etc for that, if you could in fact push it that far. It also depends if you have a good motherboard or not.

You might be able to get it to 2.4ghz, but I don't garuntee it. Why do you need it to get up to 2.4ghz anyways?

....thanks for the replies everyone...none of the above...i am used to seeing actual designations for speed but when they are listed with some other designation of speed instead of 2.1 or 2.8ghz etc, that is where i get confused.....ok, i am done and found out what i needed to know....thanks again!

...thanks for the reply, however, i really need to be sure. i need to get up around a minimum of 2.4ghz also...

lol no worries it's exactly 2.4ghz i have one. they are good oc'ers, but make sure you do it right...

and i am talking about an AMD athlon 64 3400+ @ stock 2.4ghz socket 754

yea no problem and the oc thing was just a side-note. i was examplifying that it was a good solid proc. (reassuring you)

When games show the speed they need (like the 2.4Ghz), they're referring to the Pentium 4's and Celeron's only. AMD's and new Intel chips run at a much lower speed, but are more then capable of running the game.

..let me ask you this while i am at it...i have a dell dimension desktop computer model b11o series, 2.53ghz...i want to get rid of the crappy cpu cooling setup that comes with this....with that in mind, if i went into a store, what would i ask for specifically pertaining to a heatsink and fan combination that would mount directly on the cpu and motherboard, not like the duct work they currently are using?...thanks!

You would ask them if they have a Heatsink/fan for a socket ###. It sounds like yours is a socket 478, but I can't be certain.

well if he is still asking about a 3400, one would suppose he was talking about a socket 754
