What is the greatest game of all time?

Yea it's all about player perception. Some players love RPG's for the story and other players love Battlefield2 for the graphics and strategy.

I would say best game of all time, and this is completely my opinion and everyone else will disagree with me but, World of Warcraft. The reason I pick it is because the game is easy and fun to get into. No huge learning curve. The graphics are decent, not stunning, but really draw people to the virtual world. The quests can be great or tedious, and the interaction between players is endless. I think that's why it's the best MMORPG game ever created and why it has been selling so many copies.

Now as for console games...wow too many to name here.

in my opinion final fantasy 7 was the greatest game ever made.

i hate rpg's, but that game was one of my fav's

my two votes would be the original metal gear solid, and resident evil 2, tho

again, i've never considered myself a fan of those long rpg'ish titles, but those two kept my interest peaking through the entire 20-30 hour game.

i spent well over 100 hours on final fantasy 7 looking for hidden items and monsters. I never used a guide so the items you found such as Sephiroth's sword, 1/35 soldier, Dios Diary, Tissue etc. that didnt do anything made me look everywhere for a use for them. what a waste of time that was :(

I haven't met a person who has played that game that didn't like it.

you have now....hello :)

I will say that if Square-Enix does come through with FFVII on the PS3, it could potentially of the best RPG game of all time.....

never gonna happen sadly, there are absolutely no plans for a remake of FFVII depsite all the rumours that have been thrown around.

what??? final fantasy sucks!!!!! the graphic of ATARI(tetris) is better than Final Fantasy VII.

riiight , yeah ok, the fact that Square enix managed to push boundaires of the graphics with the final fantasy series means nothing then. Each time an FF games has been released its generally had the top line graphics for any game at its time. The FF X series had some of the smoothest gprahics transitions of its time and the cut sequences were simply stunning. I await to see what sqaure manage to do with their first ps3 offering, and to be fair it does look pretty special.

But back to the topic at hand. FF VII gets my vote probably based on the storyline to be fiar, it was a good enough story to get you completely gripped with it. You wanted to carry on playing to find out what was going to happen next.

Sticking with RPG's i would have to nominate Ultima 7, parts 1&2 for simply being huge games with tons of gameplay to them.

But if we are talking greatest games of all time, then im afraid there aint much that can touch Space invaders or Pacman for whats its done for the gaming industry :)

lol jimmymac, you can't fault space invaders.

too right :D

problem here is this thread seems to have become more of a qhats the greatest game of the last few years.

In my honest opinion gameplay has been seriously lacking in games of recent years. They simply cannot compare to the longevity of some of the older games. At a time when graphics were not as important and a game was purely sold on how well it played and if you could spend a long time playing it without getting bored.

I've not found anything recently that hasnt become a repetative drone of the same thing over and over again...

The game that I enjoyed the most at the time was FreeSpace: The Great War. I will always always love that game, not just for the awsome storyline and graphics (of the time), but because of all the great memories I have of playing it. I would let the original Dark Forces follow close behind :)

Well, in South Korea there are enough legal copies of Starcraft for every third man, woman and child! (Not to mention the live action plays/shows they put on all the time. Yes, actors dress up as Zerg and fight with actors dressed up as Terrans and Protoss.)

Try F.E.A.R. it has incredible graphics and physics and is just a really cool game, plus it will scare the crap out of you:D

Played it. Both original and extraction point. Extraction point is so much better than the 1st, and thats hard to beat cuz the 1st was really good to begin with.

I thought the game was pretty cool but i just couldn't keep playing i mean it didn't really have any in game movie things you know its just you hearing your commander or whatever telling you what to do so eventually i just stopped playing it but i did like the gameplay of the game just didn't have enough of ensitive for me to keep on playing
