what is windows xp hotfix?

i am procceedingly cleaning out my computer and in my add or remove program page there is about 50 of these with different codes at the ends of them...what are they? i've been quite successful with my clean up...over 18gigs and no problems

i guessing you have auto update enabled in xp. this means that everytime there is a windows update available, it is automatically installed. these are most commenly security patches.

so don't delete them?

unless you are really hurting for space, i would say to leave them as they are. deleting them cause some problems.
