I just started looking for an original ps2 on ebay, and now realize that some are made for blue discs, some for silver. I was wondering if there was any single ps2 model that plays ALL ps2 games, and ps1 games that are supposedly ps2 compatible. Please help!

If its a genuine PS2 game, reguardless to wether the disk is blue or silver it will play on any PS2:)

This. I've still got my original PS2 from the week it came out and a second one (first "broke" but I fixed it. Parents decided to get another anyway before I repaired it even though I told them it was easy to do, so we have 2) and have games that are both blue and silver and both work

Oh really? First, on ebay, some people were saying they worked with either blue or silver. Second, I already have a fat model (30000s, I think) that dosen't play any blue discs (by the way, I know the trick to fix that, says blues'll still only play about 25% of the time, haven't gotten a chance to try it),and third, I Know that slimlines don't work with all of 'em. So can I get a straight answer now?

Looks at post #2

and post #3

The only time they don't read is if the laser wears, or if it falls/rises, which happens anyway through use.

To fix the latter, open it up, take the CD tray cover off and there is a little flat disc, twist it to raise the laser. Do it until the it reads all discs and it reads them quickly (at the "wrong" distance it can take a while to initiate the game)

Thanks, Aastii. The people on ebay really confused me. I had a large "fat" model before, but it got stolen. That one did EVERYTHING it was supposed to do. I just wanted to get another one of those. Nevakonaza, you have no idea. It coulda been a slip of the keyboard, but did you actually think even slimlines worked with all of the games? It's got a DIFFERENT LASER! I know from personal experience it dosen't work with a whole list of games!

i suggest you get a fat one cause the slim one tends to overheat.

all ps2 can play all ps2 games blue or silver so yeh
