Why is my PC video game freezing all of a sudden?

I have been playing Grand Theft Auto 4 now for about a week with a few small freezes here and there, and now all of a sudden, the freezes are huge to the point of the game being unplayable. What could have possibly happened overnight to have caused this change? I ran the experience index - same as before - graphics and processing have the same score.

gta iv is pretty buggy. try running the game for as long as you can then immediately (have it running before you start the game) look at the performance tab in task manager and see what your physical memory usage percentage is:

you might possibly be having the memory leak issue. do you have all of the latest patches installed?
 
I would either call Rockstar Game company, your computer company, both.
