Why not? I can't get online?

Recently, I setup a network servers to surf the net. But these days, when I turn on the computer, the NET CARD's LINK light is on, but the ACT light is off. When the ACT light is off, I can't surf the net of course, even though I get into WINDOWS 98 or WINDOWS XP, both NOT!!!! I have to press the POWER button again and again, trying to make the ACT light on, so that I can surf the net. But it is such a hard work, and it has to restart many times. That will hurt my computer surely if I use POWER button to restart the computer. It will be died if I go on doing like this. So can anybody help me???

1. The computer "sharing" or "connecting" the rest of the has to be on whenever you want internet. Consider a router?

2. "ACT" light only indicates activity through that NIC ... "LINK" should be sufficient for certain things (dont quote me on this, it's been awhile)

What did you mean by "Network Servers"?
