Windows 8 Laptop

So my brother-n-law dropped of my nieces new laptop to me complaining it's slow. Well slow is an understatment. This thing is urghhhhh. I have 0 experience with window 8 and that makes it even worse. It's an HP 2000 notebook with 2gb ram a AMD E300 APU with a 320gb hd. The main problem is speed. When I click on something (anything) for instance I click on my computer and device manage it might take 10-30 seconds just to load device manager and websites aren't working properly. I've been loading updates on this thing for 4-5 hrs for I think there was around 20. I can only do a couple at a time (4-6). So here is what I did

Ran a scan - he bought trend micro titanium for it. Doesn't find any issues.
Installed Malwarebytes - didn't find anything so I deleted it.
Updated GPU driver said there was an error. So I went to amd and d/l auto detect and d/l latest drivers.
Installed adobe reader, flash and shock all from adobe the free versions so they can view videos. This is working.
When I go to task manager it says the cpu is at 98-99% and the memory is at 70% and it's not hardly running anything. Says trend micro is taking 22-30% then service host local system (14) 20% WMI provider host is at 35-40%. I was thinking of disabling micro trend to see if it speeds up. She told her Dad that it started getting slow around 1- 1 1/2 weeks ago. When she wants to watch a music bideo and such it buffers. I told him that can be the internet connection or speed. I have it hooked up to my connection now with an average d/l of 80-85 and upload of 35-40. But still slow. Also I can even go to speedtest.net to check speed it loads the page with no begin test..... Urgh this thing is urghhhh. Oh and the laptop is around 4 months old.

So I d/l all window updates and updated video driver and ran scans. Now evertime I try to get on the internet, I'm unable to. If I click on google, it times out. If I click on i.e. then try and run something it says I.E. has stop working...... WOW

Try doing a system restore. She said this happened about a week and a half ago then go back before that and see what happens. Open task manager and find out what process is using all the cpu.

I tried, but there were only 2-3 restore points. When I tried using them it says error, specificly it says the specified restore point is missing or corrupt. I can't get google or i.e. to work so I loaded Mozilla. It's working better, but adobe flash plugin has crashed. It continually crashes when you try to watch anything on you tube. Did the same thing on google and i.e. I deleted and reinstalled adobe, but no luck. Also I was able to get speedtest.net to work, but I think my connection lags this laptop out. The laptop cannot process the info. fast enough hehe....

I would get a Windows disc from the manufacture and backup the important things like pictures, videos and documents and I would do a re-install of the operating system.

Plus if you want the performance of windows 8 but the feel of 7 you go to this link

http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/35189-Windows-7-explorer-for-Windows-8

disclaimer: you need a copy of Windows 7 and I believe the site provides one since you are not actually installing windows 7 but if you follow this process you will lose metro but on the same side you will have much lower memory usage since Window 8 Metro is loaded into the memory, thus with it gone you don't have that problem anymore.
