I have an older originally windows xp hp pavilion dv6000. The original wifi card was an intel card and one day it just stopped working, I rolled back the drivers and everything but nothing would make it work. So I had an extra broadcom adapter laying around, so I just decided I would change them out and not worry about it. So I did, no problem right? Well I found out that the broadcom isn't compatible with linux, so just out of curiosity I put the intel back in and when in linux the intel works fine, but in windows the card will not find any networks, and the light on the computer shows it is disabled, but it will not enable, and the computer shows it is enabled. I have updated drivers and everything to no avail, I don't know what could possibly be causing this, does anyone have a clue?
and the broadcom works and worked fine the second I put it in, no drivers or anything.
