For $40 yah it's a good deal. It has "average" specs, although my luck with WesternDigital hasn't been that great. For $0.50/GB I'd scoop it up.

yes, definitely i have the same one.
80gb sata2 8mb buffer...
i benchmarked it, it has a low of 58mbps so its not too bad. doesnt take very long for games to load, i plan on adding another and putting them in raid... it'll be the perfect performance at the perfect size at the perfect price... around $80 for 160gb of fast storage space... its amazing. raid 0 isn't all that reliable though.
my sata1 actually performs a bit faster, its a seagate barracuda 250gb (model 7200.8)... my larger storage drive. i don't have a whole lot of files though... im only using a little over 1/4 of it at the moment.

Fry's Electronics will occasionally have incredible blowout sales. 300GB drives for dirt cheap, they practically give the last of there stock away. People camp overnight at the store...it's crazy.

really? damnn, i should look around on Ebay 4 a couple 4 my computers.
Or you could go to BESTBUY and get one for 40$. Half a year ago I got a 120GB IDE drive for 40$ after 40$ INSTANT rebate and 20$ mail in rebate. I have seen this same deal at Several other stores too.... Or if you want sata instead, Microcenter has 100GB ones for 40$, its a 20GB trade off for sata.

You could get a 300GB sata for about 100$ now(After Tax too.) Either at Microcenter or Fry's electonics.
