x2 6600 gt or one 7800gtx

ok my friend who worcks with me is buildign a new system he will be using things from his old one of course mainly just his video card he has a 6600gt and a 7800 gtx he doesn twaan spend 350 o na new gtx so he said eh will get a second 6600gt and sli them i think it would be stupid to sli his to 6600gt wouldt it just be beter to keep his original 7800gtx he said they will have same amout of ram in the end adn that 2 gpus are beter then one but i dont think 2 6600gt is beter then one 7800gtx

Why fill up 2 SLI slots when you could get better performance with one? As of now, SLI doesn't give a huge increase. Plus, he could get another 7800 later on.

So use the 7800. Period.
 
Yes, but be aware that the 7800GTX is going to be disconinued (or it already is), so it may be hard to find another one for SLi later.
 
From what I understood he already has the card. So too late for that. But the 7800 GTX is still a nice card nowadays.
 
yea... and lighter. i have a SLI motherboard and i still havent used SLI because a single card configuration has always been the better deal for me.
lol the single 7800gtx has more pixel pipelines than both of the 6600gt's put together. (24 vs. 8+8) lol

but i agree, it is not worth getting two cards when one does the job better
 
thast what i tried to tell him but he thinks 2 gpus are beter then one he will have the same memory with the two 6600gt but i still think its retarded i wil give him the link to this thrtead and try and convince him to keep his 7800gtx. il let him know about the pixel pipelines i forgot about that completely i just say the 7800 gtx is beter

Not entirely. When you use SLI for two video cards, you dont double the memory. So if you have 2x 128MB 6600GT's in SLI, you still only have 128MB.

Personally, I think a 7800GTX looks much better than 2 6600GT's.
 
ya honestly the 7800gtx is like a freeking tank il let him know all these thing and so he might get a second 7800gtx or just keep the one

If he still doesn't listen, whack him over the head with the 6600 until
a. The card breaks
b. His head breaks

Then he'll have no choice.
 
um im 16 he is 25 he is a black belt in karate i just have a year and a half of boxing im starting again this year but hel kick my ass
