hey y'all,

i am going to buy a console soon probably before Christmas. I am trying to do some research before blowing hundreds on a console. I know this has probably been asked somewhere in the forum, but I haven't found it using the search function.

I was thinking either a 80GB PS3 or a 120GB XBOX Elite.....i have 1080p lcd....
Maybe some one can tell me the difference between them..aside that the PS3 has better graphics.

It's a hard decision...

But I really think the PS3 is better..

I think it really comes down do Sony or Microsoft.

Oh yeah and I am scared of 360 now cause of those issues with over heating, and the three red dots..

Kent.

aw men, another one of those xbox vs ps2/ xbox360 vs ps3 thread, this has been done gazillion times before, now again ?
my friend has just purchased a 360E, no probs so far, his old 360 is there we just use it as a multiplayer gaming machine, working fine, no heating or whatsoever !!

From compared screenshots, the specs and all i would get the XBox. About every PS3 i have seen or played its not all that smooth and freeze alot...

Im not sure how anyone can rationalize the purchase of the xbox 360, knowing they are still recording 25-35% failure rates. At least NOT till October when the newer "cooler" version is planning to be realeased.

And yes i own the xbox 360, and yes it is still sitting on my shelf broken...It's a awesome system, when it worked.

Word of advice, don't base your decision on price, base it on the features that you would value the most and the games that you would enjoy the most.

Definately. Many sites have even calculated it out that once you get the features to where they are comparable (or as comparable as possible), the end up being around the smae price.

Screw the specs, you need to look at the games man. :D Whichever has the games, should get the purchase. And it all depends on those games you wish to play.

Good list, kinda long but I like it.
I second this oppinion. Probably the only sensible way to choose. :D
IMHO they are pretty similar so for me atleeast, it comes down to the games.

Do you have an HDTV?

No need to get confused ,trust me and go for the PS3 it has higher quality graphics.
True it costs more but still Sony consoles are the world best selling .
Check out the PS3 games on gamespot.com .

xbox 360. Most of the overheating issues have been solved, and right now the ps3 has virtually no games. 360 though, has gears, bioshock and soon, halo 3.

In fact, the XBox 360 comes out to be more expensive: Wireless Network Adapter $70, HD-DVD drive: $180. Tack on $250 to the price of the 360, and you now have a higher price than the PS3...

Why would you get a wireless adaptor when 100foot of cable is 10 bucks?

You do bring up a good point though, are you going to go blueray or hddvd? I personally would get the 360 (I have one) because it has more games, especially halo3! I wouldnt bother getting the elite, its just black, sure 120 gigs, but my friend has had his xbox360 since launch and he still hasnt filled up the 20. Speaking of that, I have run 5 xbox360's (at the same time!) in the same corner for 72 hours (huge/long lan) and never had it overheat/seen a red ring of death. Finally, If youre getting a console just for graphics, Im sorry, but you dont even know what real gaming is.
