Your opinion please

I have started a computer course, most of the modules are computer programing.

I know that Intel are good for multi tasking and AMD for gaming. I have given up gaming now and I am now focused on the course. For that I have got the funds for a new computer to build/buy (Whole).

What would you recommend me buying, price range of about £400.

I do like Dell and the Intel D....and if needed....Core 2 Duo....., not Celeron! are quite good.

You people know best. Please help.

I Will be using Visual Pro and video editing.

Not anymore, Intel Core 2 Duo is basically better at everything. I dont know how much your budget is in $$ but I would say go for a C2D no matter what, unless it totally unbalances your system.

I wouls suggest looking into getting a Core 2 Duo setup. Look at some of the other recent threads with build suggestions. I'm not blowing you off, but there have been some pretty good ideas already put forth that should give you a good starting point.

You shold be able to put together a decent machine in your budget (about $700 american if I'm thinking straight) with a Core 2 Duo E6300 or E6400.

Go core 2 duo even if it did somewhat unbalance the computer in sum way.
