Are there any other places to download PC games other than gamestop.com?
There's Steam.
Nevermind, it works!
I already downloaded Dragon Age: Origins. My download speeds are sick!
right with steam i get like 2.2mbs downloads its crazy fast!!!!
Aastii how much did you pay for MW2.
I just got Steam today.
6.8 down?! That's ridiculous! I was a ready 5.1. What is your service? What's your mbps? That's gotta be almost 54000mbps!
Where do you check for those deals? I will definitely keep that in mind!
And I can download these games whenever I want? How does this work now?
50Mb/s, no download limit, but we regularly get well above that. When we were on 20Mb/s we were regularly getting closer to 24. We are with Virgin, can not fault them on a single thing. Only time I ever experience slow net is when they are performing maintenance, the longest period of which was about half an hour, but that is only once every maybe 3-6 months at most
You can check your download speeds through Steam. When you are downloading a game it will tell you how quickly it is coming down. You have to remember it depends on server load. Saying I get 6.8, that isn't all the time, just a lot of it. Sometimes it goes down to 2, or even down to ~700KB/s, but it does pick up once load goes down or you raise a place in the queue.
The way it works is you buy a game, then you have a digital copy of it which is bound to your Steam account. You can log into your Steam account on any computer and your games will be available. Whenever you want to download them, you just go to your games library, download whatever you want, and then once it is finished, play!
It keeps all of your games up to date, makes sure they don't get corrupt, deals with installing all of your DX, .NET framework, anti-cheat systems etc for you, so you don't have to go through the rigmarole of getting the game in a workable condition.
It also has a social system where you can talk to friends, and with most games, invite them to come and play with you. A word of warning with that - if you ever play a game with Punkbuster, such as CoD and BF, you will need to disable the Steam overlay, as it will cause you to be kicked from servers with the message "Disallowed Program/Driver"

That is all great to know! Very excited I got this program/account now. Seems almost silly not to have it now.
Do you have Mount and Blade?
Nope, I don't have it. That's why i'm curious about it.
