If you're looking for a nice mid-level option that won't break the bank like the above options, but will let you sit comfortably with a GTX 1070 or any card below it: The Intel i5-6600K!

AMD isn't nearly an option until their new Zen processors come out. It'll be interesting to see how they compare since it's rumored to be competing at a Skylake i7's performance level...

Yea... in power consumption. That's pretty much it. The 6950x blows the E5-2670 in dual socket configuration in a bunch of tests.

Because passmark is the only thing that matters. Not real world programs that most people are going to be using who would consider these high end processors. Definitely not... because those people are going to be running Passmark all day to do their work.
