Well the motherboard you may be using may be a custom/proprietary shape, meaning that mounting it inside a "aftermarket" case, you may not have mounting holes in the typical/standard motherboard mounting locations. Essentially the biggest risk here is that it won't align correctly. I can't imagine it being far enough off that you couldn't get the majority of the mounting screws in place, however there are always risks of discharge and etc when you end up leaving one of the holes empty.Honestly i would really want to upgrade the case but could someone explain to me what my risks are? I really dont get it.
Honestly, I can't see it as really being that big of an issue, but others can chime in as well. I have taken my friends Lenovo pre-built machine motherboard and stuck it in a Zalman Z11+ case and one or two of the holes didn't align. We simply didn't screw those in and it's ran fine for the past 4 months or more.
