Hi guys 3 month past since release of 16.04,has anybody seen over all improvement of bugs wise in 16.04,i tried a clean install 3 months ago and i was disappointing,it was the worse release of Ubuntu ever,i'm running presently Ubuntu 14.04 which is running great, have the issues with ati drivers been resolved,or everything still a mess, crappy distro?

I have heard of numerous complaints of 16.04, in my testing i have had some issues with the repos but that is about it. I don't know if the issue with Radeon drivers has been fixed, though not completely Ubuntu's fault either. I have been using Linux as a primary driver for almost a decade and I have never seen anything good come from Radeon drivers. The staple has always been Intel and Nvidia for graphics chip support. I know this issue seems to be only in Ubuntu right now but when I hear Radeon problems in Linux it is never a surprise.

If you are tired of Ubuntu there are some nice other bases like Linux Mint, Elementary OS, Ubuntu MATE or GNOME Ubuntu which have been very progressive on their desktops. I must say I really like Linux Mint's new Y theme. Though your radeon issue may persist there as well as they use the same base.

I don't think this radeon issue is in Fedora, openSUSE or Arch Linux. Though I notice not all games render correctly in those either.

I get what you are saying, I have yet to upgrade my server from 14.04 to 16.04 as for the time being I don't see much of a point for my needs. Just can't justify the work of data moving for a newer server OS while 14.04 is supported until 2019.

Okay, I would love to help you with your issue, looks like you get the error when running updates? If yes I need you to run your updates differently so we can see what is happening. Instead of using the GUI open the terminal and run

sudo apt update; sudo apt upgrade;

Post the output for me please, this way we can see what package is failing and why.

One other question for the Radeon piece, are you using the proprietary or open source drivers?

I am glad to hear that fixed your problem. Unless you have a need to upgrade to 16.04 that ppa's cannot solve then I wouldn't be to worried.
