    Computer shorted out.

Is this a custom build or is it a pre-built machine (HP, Dell, Lenovo, etc...)? You could try unplugging everything from the board except the CPU and see if it gives proper BIOS beeps for missing RAM as well. This would be a good starting point to troubleshoot the machine yourself and save a...

    Virtual Machine Experimenting

If you wanted to rent the boxes out as gaming servers your best bet may be to run them as a bare metal install. Splitting the box into multiple VM's would leave you with 4Gb for 4 VM's or 8Gb for 2 which MAY be enough for a dedicated host depending on the game it's running. As for VMware if you...

Lenovo M73 Thinkcentre won't display on Samsung TV

That IS a slot you could install a micro PCIe wireless card into. The slot is named on the right side as you can see as mPCIe 1, most of your slots will be labeled in some way on the board itself. As mentioned previously though you would be better off buying a USB card or some sort of external...

Using a VEXnet USB Adapter Key for WiFi and drivers.

Once you plug in the adapter in Device Manager you can right click the presumably unknown device and select properties. Once there go to Details and select Hardware IDs, this will show the actual device ID which you can search for online (usually the first one on the list). It is plausible that...

Lenovo M73 Thinkcentre won't display on Samsung TV

As per Lenovo's site (http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/desktops/thinkcentre/m-series-tiny/m73/) that SHOULD come with a Wireless adapter (I don't believe it's optional). Have you checked your device manager to see if you do actually have one and it just isn't installed correctly? You would also be...

    Display Crashing

As odd as it sounds you may want to try running memtest, the onboard GFx would use the RAM for its GPU and the video issues may be related simply to a bad RAM spot that eventually gets hit after a while. I had a very similar issue on an older system of mine and it turned out I had a bad stick.

Full System Restore Delete Recovery Partition?

Depends on what your system manufacturer is and how you're doing the recovery. If you're doing it through the windows recovery manager you should be ok, it will simply restore onto the primary windows partition (or possibly give you an option). The HP/Dell/Whoever software usually blows away all...

    Wont boot past motherboard screen

It seems both our questions were already tried John, have you tried hitting Esc or Tab to see if it will display the POST info (assuming by mobo screen you mean the ASUS logo)?

    "Open With" Problem-- Help!

Just the EXE one for now and see what happens, if it really IS every file type there is serious registry corruption possibly.

    "Open With" Problem-- Help!

Yes, that is the direct cause, the links posted are .reg fixes and WILL fix the issue if it is a file type association problem (I have used both multiple times). A scan won't fix the issue, the registry has been modified, it will simply remove the virus if there is one (it is possible to mess up...

How much is my computer worth?

I would put the price point around ~500-600$ most of the parts are older parts and used (assuming) and new parts for a machine of equal performance could be bought for ~700-800$ Without the PSU and HDD you will probably get a bit less as it's just more parts for the purchaser to buy.

    Wont boot past motherboard screen

Are you able to get into the BIOS at all or does the option not even appear (assuming motherboard screen doesn't mean BIOS)?

    "Open With" Problem-- Help!

Most likely a problem with exe file association for XP http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm For Vista/7 http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/file-asso-fixes-for-windows-7/ That sounds like the most likely issue, however common causes are viruses, I would do a scan after it's fixed.

    Rsf?

You may have to be a bit more specific in what you're asking. What does this relate to, is it hardware or software related, is it coding related?

    Camcorder to Computer

Video cards have s-video outputs, not usually inputs. A video card with an S-video input would be an All In Wonder style card which is just a video card with a capture card integrated.

    Camcorder to Computer

Like I said, I haven't touched a capture card in years (plural). The best bet would be to go around and look for reviews on the cards/boxes (a lot are external now) and see what would suit your needs the best. It doesn't need to be extremely expensive to get the job done, just remember that as...

    Camcorder to Computer

Any sort of capture card will work (even most tv cards that have s-vid in). Then you can just pull it directly off the camera with Windows Movie maker (if you really want to) or use another third party program (I can't think of the names of them off the top of my head, it's been a long long time).

Soldier Needs Some Advice for New Laptop

If you're really into gaming finding a notebook tough enough to withstand the punishment of moving around a lot (as is the case in Iraq I would assume) will be difficult. Thew best so far seem to be the Sagers (which I have no experience with) or a regular notebook with a hardshell case (like...

$700 Budgert - Beat the Prebuilt

Wait til you get some more money and buy a computer that will be worth instead of buying inferior/cheap parts (or refurbed). An extra 300$ goes a long way even in buying an "average" machine.
