Hows this for a first build?

I would have to agree with mokeysims, either do that, or if you want to stick with AMD, then that is a good build.

i would stick with AMD but i would get an AMD x2 4200

People sometimes have this thing called a "budget." This often works in tandem with "intention" when building a computer. Seeming as how you completely neglected that thing called a "budget," you picked a poor processor considering. If you do have the urge to post something probably not well thought out, at least explain yourself for it.

Btw - OP either your setup or the Conroe setup would work very well for you. Your 3800+ cpu setup would work better for gaming as of right now, but as more future games support dual-core, the Conroe would outperform it. The Conroe setup would be better overall most likely, however either way you would be happy with. Good luck with your build.

i think that the conroe would outperform the amd in games NOW. monkeysims has the better idea with the pc he suggested and does it fall within budget?
