socket 939 amd's are getting cheaper and cheaper by the second, you could pick up a decent amd 64 with about a gig of ram, that combined with an off brand mobo... slap an IDE hard drive in a tower that comes with a 400w PS or whatnot, and bam... under 500$ :)

maybe 7300 or 7600 for graphics?

is it possible

to somehow subsitute the mobo for

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813131569

I dont know much about them but when buying things on the internet I usually trust the product more when you can see that many people have bought it. Looking at the specs it says the northbridge is a nvidia sumthin or other and the one up^ ther says it is an ATI. if it is possible to do some sort of subsitute, would that even be a smart idea? I am very new at this so I will be asking probably stupid questions such as these. thanks for being patient! :D

Good mobo, however, I would suggest that you spend the extra $10 and go for AM2 instead of S939.

This processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103029

This mobo (most popular AM2 mobo on Newegg): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131143

This RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227059

Not sure how these will affect the price (since I really didn't look at the original config, only mobo, cpu, psu, ram), but some things can always be changed should a lower price be desired.
