Apple iPod Restore

I just restore an iPod from someone to restore because he somehow got it locked for 20 Million hours.

The problem is he has a lot of purchased stuff on it and has never backed it up on a computer. So if I were to restore it, Will he loose everything he bought ?

I do not think so, all your apple purchases and files are backed up with your apple account.

No he won't lose anything. His purchases are saved with his iTunes account. He can log into iTunes and re-download everything.

The issue I'm having now is when I'm trying to sign in with his given Apple id and password, I get the error "You are not a member of the administrator group" ?

Anyone have a clue what can I do. I asked him and he only has the one apple account and it's not merged or in any way connected to another account so I'm pretty clueless as what this means.
