Wrong file types there. An avi file is a video file interwoven with sound while wma files are the format for Windows audio files. Microsoft originally intended to have the wma format in order to compete with mp3s. A full description can read at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Media_Audio

The details on avi files are seen at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_Video_Interleave

yeah totally true. Unless he wanted to extract the sound from a video which is easy to do no need for softwares

avi is a format for video, wma is a format for audio, if you want to convert avi to wma, you need a software. I know a software named AVI MPEG WMV RM to MP3 Converter which is a powerful tool to convert all video and audio files to MP3, WAV, WMA and OGG formats.

The only way to convert avi files into mp3s, wavs, wma files, or some other audio format is to first extract the audio portion. These file types are strictly audio. With a program that converst avi files it would separate the two into two separate files like those seen when going to burn an MPEG II file onto a dvd-r. The program then breaks the single into different segments for burn to disk. Your player then adds those collectively when going to process them.

ur going to love this

ok I'm here looking for a program that will take the .AVI file I have of a concert and split it into individual songs. I also have a .mp3 version of the same concert (see below) and i would like to do the same to it, though preferably I'd like to do it to the mp3 file. any ideas??

oh and here is a friggen GREAT program, it will take a video file and rip a copy of its audio and poop out an .mp3 file in perfect quality, while still leaving the orig. file intact and in good shape :::

http://www.dvd-mp3.org/ only prob is...it only lasts for 15 days, other then that it works to 100% of its capacity in the mean time! I found it while looking for an video to Ipod converter (which is also on that site)

so any ideas what i can do about my above question would be GREAT!!
