Battlefield 1942 won't start after I installed new GPU

Hey all.
I upgraded from a MX440 to a 9700 pro and now Battlefield 1942 won't start. It seems to think for 2 seconds and then it forgets that I even clicked the exe.
I did uninstall the nvidia drivers, swap cards, then install the ati drivers. That was all proper.
What's weird is that Red Alert 2 still runs.
Any idea what the problem is? ... or even if this is posted in the right section?

sounds like it isn't a problem with the video card or drivers. try reinstalling the game itself.

Running xp. I also updated all my windows updates and installed direct x to the latest.

I tried using 2 different installers (my cd drive is down) and both installations didn't launch. (don't worry - I own the game... even though it's free now)
It worked like a charm on my MX440.
