- We have 5 static ip addresses provided via the local cable company.
- They installed a modem/router at our location...
- a single device connected to the cable with 4 network ports on the back.
- We want the office computers to share one static ip
- We want another set of computers to share another static ip
Will the configuration below work for us?
- We install two routers... one for each static ip address.
- We connect Router-1 to a port on the cable modem/router and assign it one of the 5 static ip's...
- then connect the office computers to the ports on Router-1
- We connect Router-2 to another port on the cable modem/router and assign it another of the 5 static ip addresses
- then connect our other computers to the ports on Router 2
Kinda like this...
Cable -->Cable Modem/Router-->
--> Port 1-->Router-1 ip-1--> Network-1
--> Port 2-->Router 2 ip-2--> Network-2
Thanks for any help.
