hello all,

I'm trying to help a friend solve his problem. he is trying to install win xp on his new ssd, but he keeps getting bsod.

his new computer is the following:
amd hexcore 1100
ASUS Crosshair IV Formula
16 gb ram

he is trying to install win xp then to upgrade to win7 64 bit....(why he didn't just purchase a full version of win7...i dunno)

anyways he keeps on getting bsod during win xp installation... are there certain drivers he needs to install during winxp installation??

thanks for your help

david

Just delete the partition and start over. Boot to the 7 DVD, first time around, dont put a key in, it will install a trial version. Boot to the 7 DVD again, this time pick upgrade and put the key in this time. Then just delete the Windows old folder.

he installed everything fine on his regular 500gb Harddrive, and currently his SSD does not show up in my computer. is this a failed ssd?

Depending on the SSD, you may need to use ACHI. Using a default IDE controller should work I think, but you would need to check the particular SSD. :)
