can anyone recommend program alternative to adobe acrobat?please help!

Adobe acrobat professional 8 causes the windows to run slowly in the case of running kaspersky internet security.When I uninstall Adobe acrobat ,the system seems to be working fine.Therefore I think Adobe acrobat professional 8 and kaspersky internet security are incompatible.First I want to ask you is:
Is there a way to solve this problem by changing the settings of kaspersky internet security?If this is not the case,can you recommend another programme alternative to Adobe acrobat professional 8 so that I can create
pdf files and make changes in pdf files?
I hope someone can help me

I dunno bout edit, you might be able to but you can save docs as PDFs in Open Office? does that help?

Many use Foxit as an alternative to the bloated Adobe, I use the reader only but here is the site for it's products http://www.foxitsoftware.com/products/
