Can i leave it ON

i have a laptop which has an AMD TurionX2 processor.How many hours can i leave my laptop ON which harming it?
I have heard that AMD has some overheating problem is it true?

Yea, they do but i'm not sure, all i know is that they overheat pretty fast, but if you leave it on all the time the battery will wear out like mine, the battery suppose to last 2 years, but i used it mostly everyday and the battery wore out in 1/2 a year. I think the laptop will turn itself off before they heat up, but i'm not a expert in this.
