Hi,

Can you make money setting up a online shop selling xbox 360, ps3 and wii computer parts like lasers, hard drives, switches, ribbon cables, mechanisms, console cases etc.

Does it make money?

Is their high demand for these parts?

Is their people all over always looking for console parts?

Please share what you know about this sort of thing.

I don't think there is much money in it unless you happen to be sitting on a load of good parts you got for cheap. Lasers tend to be the more sought after parts, but are generally only $10-$20 for a new xbox/wii lasers and a bit more for the PS3 lasers.

The easiest way to sell these parts would be through eBay, where the cheapest parts so you'll have to price competitively (i.e. not a lot of money to be made). If you want to set up your own online shop then you're going to have to give people a reason to visit your site rather than go to any of the already established sellers.

Yes you can make money doing this. But chances of that happening are unlikely.

Most major online retailers buy in bulk directly from the manufacturer. This gives them low prices, and probably beat out anything you can offer.

Plus they have customer service centers, exchanges, etc. in case something does not work.

Now the second park, what is the demand, systems get damaged but either they can be fixed (like some 360's with red ring for a decent price) or it is too expensive to even repair them, in this case you don't have much of a market.

The chances of you breaking in is slim. Good try though.
