can't install Windows 8 Release Preview in any VM

hello,

i was supposed to install Windows 8 Release Preview in an VM
but i'm unable to do that

everytime when i startup from the installation iso, i will see the word Windows for an few seconds and then i will see this error:

what does this error mean and how to resolve it?

How exactly do you have the VM set up? It's possible the ISO is corrupt, so download it again and try.

It's probably a good thing you can't get it to install by the way, it's a pretty poor attempt at making an OS. You're not missing out on much. ;)

OK as you are using VMware here's what I think you should do:

1. Download the ISO again.

2. Delete your existing Windows 8 VM and create a new one.

3. Don't use easy install to install Windows 8, or if you do use easy install select Windows 7 as the OS. So when you set up the VM it will ask you for the ISO or CD containing Windows, right? When it asks for it, select "I'll install the operating system later" and then once the VM is created, boot it up, go to Virtual Machine (at the top of the window), Device, then select your Windows 8 ISO to install the OS from.

Hopefully that'll work. I'm going to be away for a couple of days - going on holiday, so if you have any problems leave a response here and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
