I'm upgrading my computer, Proc, Ram, and Mobo. I've decided to get a E6400.

Now as far as the Mobo and Ram, I'm completely clueless and due to some time restrictions, I don't have much time to research.

Of course I'm going to OC this thing, so keep that in mind, but I'd like to keep the whole project under 600 bucks. 500 would be grand. I'm still unsure about 1 or 2gb of ram, though the 2gb would really kill the budget.

Anyway, gimme some thoughts!

Thanks!

I'm bumping because I really need a reply. I've decided on a DFI 975x. Good decision?

I am however completely clueless about ram. I've heard for the C2D timings in general are more important than the speeds.

go with a E6300, 2 GB of DDR2 800 corsair, and a gigabyte 965P DS3

i dont know what that comes to but there is absolutely no difference between the 3 and the 4, besides a waste of thirty bucks

you can easily OC the 3 to 3 ghz as it is

Get the E6400, and either 1 or 1.5 gigs of RAM. That way you can easily upgrade it. I'll look for a mobo for ya.

EDIT: Beaten to it. Although I think he should get the E6400 cause it is easier and cheaper to upgrade from 1 gig to 2 gigs of RAM then from one CPU to another. The gigabyte is a fine board.
