core 2 quad for laptop

core 2 quad cpus exists for laptops right? I am not finding any mobile core 2 quads on newegg or zipzoomfly. I can get a desktop cpu and put it in my laptop? I have a Dell inspiron 1420.

Yes, but I've only seen one. Laptops are meant to be power efficient so they can be portable. It's not very practical to have a quad core cpu in a laptop.

Absolutely not. The cpu sockets are different.

Well, it actually depends what kind of cpu you already have, but chances are it wont physically fit, plus what incentive does the manufacturer have to support it with a bios update? So you can upgrade and prolong purchasing another notebook from them? Thats why notebooks usually have a limited range of bios upgrades..

Q9000= Socket P
T7500= Socket P

So physically it would fit, but chances are extremely high the bios wont support it, and also the fact the only place you'll find them is ebay for $2-300.

Even with the bios updates, chances are it wont work unless that model has the Q9000 as a cpu option.
