Create XP system image?

Hello, all,

I have Windows 7 on my main computer and have been using it for some time. I also have a laptop with Windows XP Home on it. I recently had a real mess with a nasty virus on my main computer, but fortunately I had made a system image some time ago, and was able to fix the problem. (The virus had disabled system restore so only wiping the entire hard drive and installing the system image fixed it.)

It's been a while since I used XP and can't remember the process for making a similar back up. I would appreciate any information. I can make the backup on CD/DVDs or a free-standing external hard drive, but I just can't remember the process.

Thanks,

Dustman

While Win 7 has a built-in system image utility, XP doesn't so you could use something like the free Macrium Reflect to do the image. Make sure you create the boot disk that will enable you to boot the system when/if you need to restore.
