Dead Monitor of HP pc

Hi, I'm the owner of a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC and the monitor just died. The pc powers up fine and it sounds like its working but the monitor doesn't do anything. Any suggestions? Do I take it to a place like geek squad(or some other, more affordable place around the Tampa area) to get the monitor replaced or would it be cheaper to buy a new one?

It'll be cheaper to buy a new one. You are talking about a desktop correct because this is in the laptop section. If it is a laptop and the screen died it'll cost too much to fix so I'd just hook a monitor to it.
