I was looking at this computer and it came with dual 9800gt graphics cards, and I was just wandering if I play games like crysis on a res like 1280*800 (1440*900 maybe) would I be able to play the game at max settings with no lag. I am planning to play most games on a 1280*800 res (and 1440*900 on some less demanding games) and would dual 9800gt be a good choice for me to buy then.

Simple specs if you need

its a quad 9450
4 gigs of ram
dual 9800gt
750 gig hhd
I think thats all u need 2 know

thanks!!

with a specs like that? i think its very likely that you would be able to max it out. im runnin on Q6600, 2gb ram and single 9600gt. i can play crysis at high settings. of course, its just my opinion. gota check out reviews and stuff. forgot to add, i play it at 1280 x 1024

It really depends on your system. I have an 8800GT overclocked to 700/1700/2000 over 600/1600/1800 standard. I play it on medium settings, 1440x900 and my frames go everywhere from 50 to 15. This is most likely my processor, It turns out the highest my mobo can take is an AMD x64 @ 2.8GHz, so no chance for an upgrade.

Thanks Yeah it really does not matter what settings I play a game like crysis (well at least above medium settings) but at lest that it will be able to play future games at a pretty decent setting (no im not talking about playing games on a 1920*1200 setting with ultra high settings and 8x AA) thanks

Ok thanks a lot that helps, now at least i will know that i can play most games on a nice setting (I normally play games on 2xAA or 4X AA, cuz i almost see no difference between 4aa and 8aa when I am playing games, the biggest difference i will see is from nothing to 2XAA)

With my new 4870. I can play it on very high, at 1248x768 (or whatever it is lol) With practically no lag? So the duals would be fine Id say although not at max resolutions of course.

Yeah I wasn't planning on playing it on very high res (1280*800 res most games and maybe 1440*900 on some games)

Thanks

I just got new system with dual 9800gt, Q9550, 4G Ram but haven't tried playing CRYSIS on it yet.

How do you determine the frame rate? I want to compare. I was hoping to play at 1980X???, but don't really now if it will work.

Uhh just saying that from my understanding, any two cards in SLi will be surpassed by a single card of a higher model.

So maybe it might be smarter for you go for a higher model card instead of 2 of a low model.

Not to mention the massive power drain two cards running in Sli is.

Just as a comparison I finished Crysis on an 8800GTS which has the same G92 core that is under the hood of your 9800GT and I was able to play the game in 1920x1200, with AA off and AS set to 4X. I had to overlock my graphics card to the max as well as running my Q6600 at 3.4Ghz. The lowest FPS was around 28 with that setup.

Interestingly, with my 8800GT i was only able to play Crysis on 1400 x 900 at high settings, with some extra settings. It was dodgy though.

With the new CUDA drivers from nVidia however (which allow the GPU to do physX calcs), i can play at the same resolution on Very High, with a reasonable (not great), but reasonable fps. Just a point i guess.

20fps is the minmum really needed to be able to play.
30-60 fps is better
more than 60 is pointless because the human eye wont notice it

so if you can get 30-50 on a game like crysis, on high settings, then you are doing well.
