I have a laptop that won't boot into anything, a virus got to it. I can't get it into safe mode, but I have the Vista register key so I can still do a safe reinstall of the OS. I wanted to see if I could save the files before I wiped it though. I was wondering if dual booting with something like Ubuntu would let me have access to those files again before I wiped it. Maybe transfer them to an external drive while in Ubuntu. Thanks!
