i recently bought an LG GH22NS30 and no matter what i do it won't burn anything at the advertised top speed of 22x for dvd-r, it will only go at 16x. i'm not very familiar with burning devices, especially not internal drives (this is the first i've bought myself as my previous burner was external and it was given to me). i'd appreciate any help offered, thnx.

A few things to check. What is the write speed on your media? It is likely only 16x, your burner can't burn any faster then the media can go no matter how fast the burner can go. Also your burner will never likely burn at the top speed anyway depending on your hardware. Even if the dvd says it's burning at 16x or whatever the real write speed is going to be lower. Programs like Nero do have options to show the real burning speed.
