Gaming PC ~

I'm building this computer for myself, mainly for gaming(MMO's specifically). I've been out of the loop for a bit, so what I have picked out might not be the best.

I'm looking to be able to play my games on a fairly high, if not max, graphics setting while getting at least 50fps.

~Budget is adjustable
~Looking to save money if possible, but not trying to skimp performance
~All advice welcome, wouldn't mind a compatibility check as well as if everything will fit snug into my tower

Case:

(I have already purchased this case)

OS: Window 7 OEM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116986

Total: 784$

For around the same price, already built I could get something like http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Mega_Special_III/
I'm having trouble deciding which route to take.

Looks alright to be for the budget.

Are you going to crossfire 5770? 650W would be tight if you overclock. And V2 is better.
If not, you could get cheaper mobo.

GPU - could consider 6850.

DVD burner - 24x is availiable...

cyberpowerpc route - recommend you upgrade psu. if you add OS, it come to $970

I would put more power, like this. Besides this power supply has more flexibility for hardware.

I would run two dvd drives, and add a 3.5 floppy (or buy an external).

What CPU cooler do you want?

I wouldn't bother with the optional side fans on that case either, the front and back fans should be more than enough for this computer.

And for a surge protector I recommend this one. When they more than 6 years old I usually replace them. Its $50, small investment for not worrying about having that computer fried.

I would build it. Just remember to keep meticulous records of everything you buy and where you bought it and keep every receipt. Makes sending something back later under warranty a LOT EASIER!

I wouldn't go with a thermaltake PSU.
They are not so good, specially for the price they charge.
My Thermaltake did not even last 1.5 years, and took my Motherboard and PSU with it.

@OP
If you can get the HD6850 instead of the HD5770.

Here's my follow up

I purchased

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...=1px3osshv6rn1
(I have already purchased this case)

Hard Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822152185

GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150515

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139005

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231455

MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128510

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103727

CD/DVD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827151233

OS: Window 7 OEM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116986

I plan to post some pictures (hopefully) once it is built.

I didn't change the expensive MB because I might get the bulldozer when it comes out. I honestly forgot to change the CD/DVD drive before I purchased the 22x, but oh well, I won't be using it much. I actually got a deal to where that PSU was 70.99 so I went with it.

Thanks for the advice!

None of the links are working.

I cant possibly see the point in getting 2 DVD drives.

The 650W PSU is plenty as the 5770 is very low powered.

Hope you got Win 7 64 bit

All good gear. I say keep the 650w if you want to upgrade to something better in the future.

Got it up and running, working better than I would've expected. Loving the blue LED fan on the front as well.
