i am currently running ubuntu linux along with windows xp pro. My question is what is the best way to get rid of both the ubuntu linux and the grub boot loader? I wish to have no more linux just windows, my plans are to extend my windows partition with the space freed up by linux. I have heard that the windows fix mbr only works a small percentage of the time what other ways can this be done??

Fixboot and fixmbr work just fine. Delete the Linux partitions, resize the XP partition to take up the now unallocated space, then run fixmbr and fixboot from the recovery console to restore the XP boot loader.

Sorry to hear you're leaving Ubuntu behind.
