One more question: how much does a windows 7 install take from the HDD? Vista took almost double than XP

iirc, when I installed 7 it used about 20gb of HDD space, but don't quote me on that

I think you're right, 64bit is 20GB and I think 32bit is 16.

I still have only a 250gb, which is really only 232gb, which leaves me with 212gb for everything else after installing W7. Doesn't this gap get bigger with larger HDD's?

As in they say like 640gb, but it really only has ~600GB (this is the whole 1024 = 1000 thing again)

And all software is getting slower faster than hardware is getting faster, it's not just OSes from MS.
