I am going to be buying a couple parts each pay check and start building it. In 1 week I am going to be buying the case, motherboard, and possibly ram. Then I can put my current cpu, gpu, and hard drives in it. Then next pay check i'll buy the CPU. And so on.. I also plan on buying a window kit, fan controller, and new cpu cooler later.

Tell me what you think

Remember this is a budget build not Extreme

id give it that its a pretty good build. I dont really understand the motivation to build it since the build you have isnt really all that out-dated yet. i dont know what company your RAM is but the rest of your current system seems like its well on par with mine except for perhaps your GPU, but even at that the 8600 isnt just any old card its a pretty slick set-up.

My current rig is alright but, its a stock case (hp). And the cooling just sucks. My ram is stock as is the mobo. It's time to build a computer.

to each their own. but if i were looking for a pc the one your going to build with those parts would pass my approval. its a solid build. congrats on a steel case as well.

looks decent, my one suggestion is this gpu, its not really that much more, and if you don't want to do that, i would avoid pny, most people have terrible luck with their warranties

I'll stay away from pny then but, I really dont need a 2** series card. It's way more than I need. I would really like an 8800gtx or 9800gtx.

Thats a good card, the GTS250 and 9800gtx+ are essentially the same- so go for whatever you can get a better deal on.

For memory, this patriot is cheaper after rebate and has better timings(not sure how much you like rebates though, but after rebate you cant beat the price):

This board would overclock better than that asus:

And if you wanna go dual gpu down the road... with the gigabyte board it supports crossfire, and the 4850's are extremely well priced at the moment:

I dont think I'll ever go dual gpu. It's not needed for me. Im sticking with nvidia graphics cards.

Alright, if you dont plan on going dual gpu then i would still recommend this board, amd chipsets have the added function of being a first party chipset, allowing better overclocking potential and support for newer cpu's(such as the successor to phenom II which nvidia chipsets may or may not support);).

Saving all the money up before you buy. You could possibly buy the case/ PSU/ DVD burner first, as there price probably will not change. However, for the rest of the hardware, but them all together as you the price could drop.
