Graphics / RAM QUestion

the stats of the two cards are a bit hard to compare on a apple to apple basis.

HD5670
1GB 128 bit DDR3
DX11
400 1 way cores (= to 80 5 way nvidia cores)

GT430
1GB 128 Bit DDR3
DX11
96 5 way cores (= to 480 1 way AMD cores).

short story, Nvidia will be faster and perform better.

Thank you I think i will go for the GT 430 and another 2gb of RAM although, I only have 2 slots so have to buy another 4gb in 2 x2gb cards....

Are the 1gb cards of RAM worthless ? do they have a re-sale price ?

You cant compare clocks and Stream Processing Units/Cores that way anyway. The HD 5670 is the better card.

why can't it. At the same bitrate on the same memory, it would be down to core and core speed. I don't have data on the stock core speed of both, but I would be willing to bet that at the exact same speed, the Nvidia would kick its arse.

way better really, rivalled the gts450 in one or 2 i was looking at.
1. AMD is never "way better". The cards plain suck and carry substandard drivers. This of coarse doesn't count when comparing say a Geforce 2 against a 5970.
2. the GTS is 192 bit and 192 cores. I hardly think that in any game it wouldn't slaughter a 5600 and at least keep up with a HD5770.

thats one game jonny. anyone can do one thing once, I will research, but based on the science, the GTS should come in way above the 5670 because of bandwidth and more cores.

The GTS450 bats about equal with a HD5770. Are you saying that the 400 core 5670 is equal to the 800 core 5770 johnny?

Like I said the HD 5670 is faster then the GT 430. You can twist it anyway you want. But the GT 430 is slower. period.

If your needs don’t include what Nvidia's GeForce GT 430 offers, there are better options in this price range. The Radeon HD 5670 is a (vastly superior gaming card)

You provided data, that's fine. But my question is/was why cant they be compared that way.

The data stated that the GTS450 (that jonny said was equal to the 5670) is equal to the 5770, and I showed my evidence.

Now, I will say that I use Nvidia and will recommend them to everybody, but that is not fanboyism. AMD is fine as long as your ok with a ocasional driver crash or using included drivers for Linux.

Can you compare a FX to a i7 clock for clock? God, a fanboy beyond reason and fact. Do you really have any idea how much driver problems nvidia has had over the years. Or do you just fixat on AMD and just wear blinders on Nvidia. And where the hell did Linux come out in this thread???

And even between the GTS 450 and the 5750 and 5770. The 5770 in general is faster and a 5750 will tie it in most. Only if you have a overclocked GTS 450 will it beat a 5750 and come close to a 5770 in general.

So... after the debate....

Which card is better ? In terms of value for money... I.e. if the 5670 is better than the GT430, is it also 20quid more ? meaning that the GT430 is better value per pound ?

they say HD 5670. Personally, I would go Nvidia, but it would be a little less performance in some games and applications.

What do you mean they say? And a little less performance, the 5670 kicks its butt! Its a fact. Even a overclocked GT 430 doesnt even beat a 5570, much less a 5670.

The performance increase gets us a lot closer to the Radeon HD 5570 and GeForce GT 240 in Crysis.

The Radeon HD 5670 remains untouchable here.

Overclocked GT 430
