Cavair black drives tend to be faulty. There have been lots of problems with them. Do a drive diagnostic on it if possible.

All 7200 rpm hd's get 5.9 in windows 7

I have 2 x western digital aaks 640 gigs in raid 0 that are rated at 5.9, even though they get almost 200 average mb/s transfer in HD Tune

Don't base your hardware decisions on windows 7 experience index

SSD's score a full 7.9 i think. depends on the drive :)

No traditional drive be it 5400rpm, 7200rpm or 10000rpm will score over 5.9, even in RAID.

Did you actually run the short and long tests or did you just see that the smart test passed?

You need to run the short and long tests. The smart status can still pass if the drive has errors on it or has other issues.
