Hey, I'm making a new computer to be able to get dual slots for my 6870's. I have everything but a motherboard and case that will support dual cards.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The mother board needs to have : DDR3, I think AM2+ Cpu socket (AMD Phenom 2 x4 945), AMD Crossfire (for 2 cards, 6870's)
Case needs be able to support 2 cards, preferably smaller.
Under 120 bucks in total?

do you already have everything else? crossfire 6870's might give you better performance now, but the equally priced 6970 still maxes everything or right there at it, and gives you the ability to upgrade to dual 6970's later on instead of 2 new cards. and do you mind posting the rest of the build too.

Im his freind, he already has his mind set on his card build, his budget allows for 1 6870 now which he has and possibly one later on. I needs a new case and mobo that will support dual cards and his processor. He is trying to get your help to find the best deal on those two things.

Spend 15 bucks more and get a true crossfire board. 2oz. copper PCB with a 8+2 power phase setup and newer mosfets and a dual bios.

AM2 CPUs' memory controller only supports DDR2, so you're stuck with DDR2 with that CPU. Here's the only crossfire boards for AM2+.

A Phenom II 945 is a AM3 processor.
