Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

Are you the administrator on this machine?

where can i get kaspersky?
Changing your anti-virus software at this time won't remedy the current problem although Kaspersky is certainly worth it's weight in gold if you want to pay for protection.

would it be easier for me to just start over and re install windows?
That depends entirely on you and the state of play with your own backups etc. A format and reinstall is always an option if you have the time and inclination to spend the next few weeks tinkering with your machine to get back your personal setup preferences.

Alternatively, continue with Buzz' help and let him clean your up. You might learn a thing or two about your computer along the way. To get over the current problem with SDFix please do the following:

Go to Start Menu > Run > then copy and paste the text in the code box :

Code:
%systemdrive%\SDFix\apps\swreg IMPORT %systemdrive%\SDFix\apps\Enable_Command_Prompt.reg

Press OK then run SDFix again as instructed.

Post the logs Buzz requested and wait for him to reply.

I'm not aware that it makes any difference but then I'm sure you've probably tried it by now.

Sorry, I haven't had much time the last few days.
Thanks for moving things along, John :)

Looks like SDfix did it's job, although you haven't posted the log, anyhow, time for more killing :D

Please download VundoFix.exe
to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Before you post those logs, do the following.

Download ATF cleaner.
http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1
Install and run the program, be sure to check all the boxes before cleaning.

Download, install, update and run a full scan with AVG Antispyware.
http://downloads.grisoft.cz/softw/70/filedir/inst/avgas-setup-7.5.0.50.exe
When the scan has finished, delete all it finds and save the report. Post the report here.

So that's a new Hijackthis log, Vundo log, AVG log, and SDfix, if you've still got it. You might need 2 replies to fit it all in.
