hey i just bought a new router (netgear wnr2000) replaced with my old dlink one. though when im downstair around 10m away the wireless only gets around 11mbp/s and like 60%...(using cable i get like 100mbp/s

how do i increase this? i realize that if i go in my router there is an option either 54,105,300 mpb/s so i change it to 300?

also could it be my wireless adapter? i currently have a netgear wg111v2 (54mbp/s) should i get a new one?

btw my router is wifi: n and my adapter is "G" so is that y?

last question: what is the best protection to use? WEP?

You might want to try updating the wireless driver to see if you get better signal quality. If your adapter is only G then changing the setting to something other than 54 isn't gonna make a difference. You might want to see if there is a power setting on the router to increase the signal.
