Ok so I live at home and went out of town for two days...i get a call from my bro saying there was a power surge or whatever and that when he turns on my computer there is a really loud noise like something grinding against something else
Also my moinitor wasnt coming on and I had to turn the power supply button off to turn the computer off once i started and couldnt just press and hold the front button
I do have a surge protector but i donno why a power surge would cause that
so i get home pop the thing open and the cpu/processor fan has a wing that is broken off...that explains the noise...so i unplugged the fan and turned the pc on...
still no monitor...plugged it into my video card and back of the pc like reg still nothing
So my bro says it might be the processor?
I dont think my monitor is fried because i plugged my laptop into it and i could see the laptop screen on my monitor...
i was tryingt o make it so i can plug my desktop to my laptop and use my laptop monitor as the desktop monitor to see my pc...but that didnt work for some reason
Anyways...what can it be and what should I do to fix it? new processor? power supply? or just new fan?
Thanks...I did move recently so the comp was in the trunk for 3 hours but i have been running it smoothyl for a week without any probelms whatsoever
its teh desktop in my sig btw
thanks for any help
