I'm building a new Quad Core computer within a month or 2. Just wanted to run it by people and get some feedback on it. Any suggestions and comments are more than welcomed. My "price" range is around $800 - $850 (preferably around $800 - 810). Computer will be mostly used for games like CSS, DODS, WOW and such aswell as some programming (SQL, C#, JAVA).

well u might as well get a case without a power supply if ur buying an additional one as well. Get a hard drive with 16 cache i have the 250gb seagate with 16 cache and its only 10 more bucks. Otherwise it looks like a nice build.

yes i did see that..can you tell me what the difference is? ..is it really that much faster? do u feel a difference?

also..i'm just worried from reading all the reviews about peoples power supply dying on them. thats why i guess i was going to get a backup. but i guess if your computer explodes..there isn't much a backup supply will help with.

thats an amazing performance drive. 32mb cache and reviews put it no.1

get that graphics card.

buy this cpu.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115046
faster and can overclock to 4ghz.
it will hold its value so if you ever really need a quad core, then you can sell it. plus the q6600 will drop a huge amount in a few months when newer cores come out.

get this cpu cooler. the one you picked looks shíte!

hopefully it will fall in your budget.
its a lot more powerful and faster.

Thanks for the help. highly appreciate it. it seems just slightly over my budget.

The HD isn't a big issue to me. i have one 250 internal and another 250 external so added with the 250 that i'm going to buy..it'll be 750 either way. the ones i have now..aren't that slow so i'm ok with that as long as my primary 250 for the new one is fast.

i'll keep that graphics card in mind. its out of stock at the moment.

is the E8400 better than the quad? i guess how would i go about comparing those 2 CPU? why would the price of the quad go down after a few? This is something that i'm considering changing if i can find out more info.

yeah the cpu cooler that i got was relatively cheap thats why i got it. The one u got..looks neat but it has a circular base? how does that fit in with a processor? do you have that one? also it doesn't say core 2 duo as a compatibility.

i have one and it fits on perfectly. it had a wide base but your mobo doesnt have anything restrictive on it so your fine.

ok, get the harddrive you picked, but be sure to get that graphics card or any 8800gt 512mb if you want good gaming results.

that cpu has a higher clock, which means it runs at 3.0ghz. and has 2 cores. you could easily overclock that to 3.8ghz.
the quad core has 4, and can be over clocked to a decent 3.2ghz.

prices on everything go down a lot after a while. the q6600 has been around for a good while and will drop soon when intel start releasing large amounts of their new cpu's for cheaper. that causes the older chips to fall in price.
i wouldbe be surprised if the q6600 hit 150 bucks by the end of the summer.

if you dont get the harddrive, then you can afford the graphics and the cpu and cpu cooler.

yup making adjustment. i was just concerned slightly about the heatsink/fan. but if it works its great :) thanks once again for your help appreciate it.

Many games support only 2 cores only. Thus, the E8400 will beat the Q6600 in benchmarks. Future games will have quad core utilization, and when that comes, the Q6600 will step ahead and beat the E8400 in games. Still, the Q6600 is a perfect multitasking CPU.
